Benpres 2006 profit jump on First Gen IPO, Meralco gains

MANILA, Philippines -- Benpres Holdings Corp said its net profit last year jumped 475 percent to P4.21 billion from 732 million in 2005, aided by gains from the initial public offering of its power generation unit and a turnaround in electricity retailing arm Meralco.
