Advance/Decline Line Helps Gauge The Breadth Of A Market Rally

No one will dispute that a stock market that keeps climbing on good volume is a strong one. But indicators such as the advance/decline line can help provide a more comprehensive view of its strength.

The advance/decline line measures the number of stocks closing up vs. those down. With each day's results, the line is adjusted.
